33rd Annual MLK Jr. Memorial Banquet

The 33rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Banquet will take place on January 14, 2018 at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill. This year's banquet will honor Chapel Hill Carrboro NAACP's First Vice President, James Williams ESQ., with the Citizenship Award. Frederick Douglass' 200th Birthday Events

The Chapel Hill Carrboro branch of the NAACP, along with Orange County, and the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro are celebrating the 200th birthday of Frederick Douglass with a series of events! Many events will be free and open to the public. The kickoff celebration will take place on Thursday, January 18th at 7pm at the United Church of Chapel Hill. This celebration will be an evening of art and song, led by visionary artist Tarish Pipkins, aka Jeghetto, and acclaimed gospel singer and scholar, Mary D. Williams. The Alabama Miracle Doug Jones’s Moral Fusion Victory. Last night Jews all over the world lit the first candle of Chanukkah, Christians celebrated the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Alabama voters cast their ballots in favor of moral justice over political expediency.
