Apply for branch (and other local) scholarships

It's that time of year for students to apply for branch scholarships. There are also a few other local opportunities of note.


The Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP awards annual scholarships to high school seniors selected from among the four high schools in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School System. The scholarships recognize academic achievement, civic engagement, leadership qualities and strong character. Each initial scholarship is in the amount of $1,000, of which $500 is renewable subject to criteria.


New Scholarship applications are due at 5pm on Friday, April 22nd, 2022, and finalists’ interviews will be scheduled the week of May 9-13, 2022. Learn more and apply here.


OTHER SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES


The Monsignor Thomas P. Hadden African American Reparative Scholarship awards $5,000 to a high school senior whose family ancestor(s) was either enslaved or worked at the UNC-Chapel Hill from its creation to 1950. Apply by March 1


The Peacemaking Scholarship is open to anyone who lives in, goes to school in or is active in a faith community in Chapel Hill or Carrboro. Apply by Feb. 28.


Zeta Phi Beta's "Be the Change 2022" Scholarship. Apply by March 31.
