Vigil against torture - June 26

Writer's picture: Chapel Hill Carrboro NAACPChapel Hill Carrboro NAACP

NC Stop Torture Now and co-sponsors will host a one-hour vigil and press conference on Wednesday, June 26, at noon. This is UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, and Congressman David Price will read the Executive Summary of the NCCIT torture report into the Congressional Record on this same day. Governor Cooper has done nothing to investigate or even acknowledge the illegal actions of Aero Contractors, nor has he been willing to make any statement about NC's substantial role in the CIA's torture program. Our vigil to end this official silence will be held outside his offices. Time: 12 p.m. Place: 116 W. Jones St., across the street from the large globe at the Museum of Natural Sciences.

Parking is available just east of the NC General Assembly on the south (museum) side of the street.
