It is with great sorrow that I acknowledge the passing of Executive Committee member Jesse H. Gibson, Jr.
Brother Jesse has served the branch and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community in a multitude of ways. A gold lifetime member, Brother Jesse served as branch treasurer, labor committee chair, and criminal justice committee chair in the past in more than 15 years of service to the branch.
His work was honored through the James Brittain award for outstanding service. In addition to the branch, Brother Jesse served as an active member of the North Carolina A. Philip Randolph branch, Chapel Hill Criminal Justice Debt Program Advocacy Committee, and the NC Commission of Race and Ethnic Disparities.
He is survived by his sons Maurice (Karla) and Vaughan (Tonya), his sister Melba (Walter), along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We extend our deepest condolences to the Gibson family and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community.
