Youth Council wins statewide unit of the year – and more!

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP Youth Council attended the NC State Convention for the first time and came home replete with honors.

At the 80th annual convention, held this year in Wilmington, our Youth Council was named unit of the year!

In addition, Youth Council President Nevaeh Hodge won the essay contest and was elected treasurer of the NAACP North Carolina Youth State Conference.

From L-R: Youth Council 1st VP Alexander Farmer, Youth Council Treasurer Kennedy Lytle, NC State President Deborah Dicks Maxwell, Youth Council President Nevaeh Hodge.

These honors show that the efforts of our youth at a local level are resonating far and wide. The Youth Council is always looking for new members to join in its advocacy for social justice in the community.
